The Pentagon’s intelligence arm has barred any celebrations related to MLK Jr. Day, Women’s History Month and other such observances to comply with Trump’s executive orders.

Black History Month was recognized nationally in 1976, when President Gerald Ford designated the month as a time for the public to honor the contributions of Black Americans, according to the museum. The month has since inspired other groups and an appreciation of multicultural backgrounds.

The memo was allegedly written to bring the Defense Intelligence Agency in line with President Donald Trump's anti-DEI executive orders.
