Carlos Alcaraz made a winning start at the ATP 500 event in Doha. World no. ousted the former world no. 3 Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4 in the first round for his 219th ATP victory. The first came on February 17, 2020, at the ATP 500 Rio de Janeiro tournament!

Alcaraz, who emerged victorious at the recent Rotterdam Open, continued his strong start to the 2025 season with a 6-4 6-4 victory in one hour and 13 minutes. The Spaniard broke his opponent in the opening game of the contest, but saw his advantage immediately wiped out as the pair exchanged blows early on.
