Later this afternoon, the Governor will host Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Frankfort after she views flooded areas.

Eastern Kentucky is reeling again from flood waters with at least eight people dead after a weekend of heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding, according to Gov. Andy Beshear.

Raging flood waters over the weekend, and severe cold weather, have claimed the lives of 14 people across Kentucky. If there is any upside to two catastrophic flooding events in Eastern Kentucky in less than three years, it’s that many of the relief agencies know exactly what to do to help people.

It will include public assistance for local governments and individual assistance for Kentuckians in 10 counties, including Pike County.

The declaration allows the federal government to provide funds to individuals with flood damages, state and local government agencies, and some nonprofits.
