According to the National Weather Service (NWS), residents in 24 states are advised to remain indoors as temperatures reach sweltering levels across the country, including in the triple digits. The extreme heat warnings and heat advisories are for parts of the South, Midwest and Northeast.

While several states deal with a brutal heat wave this Tuesday, one is bracing for a tornado outbreak. CBS News reported that severe storms are expected to hit the eastern plains of Colorado this Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is cautioning Tri-State residents about extreme heat early this week with heat indices that could reach 110 degrees.
