Mike Amesbury punched a man and has now been jailed for it but remains as an MP as the rules state he does not need to stand down.

Runcorn and Helsby MP Mike Amesbury has been jailed for ten weeks after pleading guilty to punching a man in the street. Amesbury, 55, last month pleaded guilty to a single charge of common assault in relation to an altercation with a man following a night out in Frodsham, Cheshire in the early hours of October 26, 2024.
