A storm bringing snow, sleet and bitter cold to southeast Texas could drop as much as 8 inches of snow on metropolitan Houston.

Temps have already plummeted across Southeast Texas, but the main story will be the chance of significant snow and ice later this week.

Storm Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Snow, ice and sleet could fall from Monday night through Tuesday. We expect much of the area to see 2 to 4 inches of snow, but some areas could see more.

A fast-moving winter storm will sweep across the US Northeast on Sunday, snarling travel and creating frigid windchills that linger into the work week, while Texas is bracing for plunging temperatures.

Officials said they will then monitor the weather on Tuesday to see what their plans will be going into Wednesday.
