A train carrying ethanol derailed in Worcester Sunday afternoon, but officials say there’s no threat to the public. Ethanol is a type of renewable fuel made from plant materials, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Six train cars derailed in Worcester, prompting a large emergency response as the tankers were carrying ethanol.

Two of the cars contained ethanol, which appeared to have gone through a business building. The fire department has since shut down the power to the building and has been in touch with the owner.
