A Delaware animal shelter is scrambling to find homes for thousands of chicks after they were abandoned in a U.S. Postal Service truck for more than three days.

Trapped in a warm enclosure, without food and water, thousands died before they were discovered and delivered to a shelter equipped to care for livestock.
