Amazon Prime users who unknowingly signed up for the monthly service may be eligible fora payment as part of a $2.5 billion settlement. The online shopping giant and the Federal Trade Commission agreed to a settlement stemming from claims that Amazon violated FTC rules by “knowingly misleading millions of consumers into enrolling in Prime.”

Up to $1.5 billion of a $2.5 billion FTC settlement will be used for $51 consumer refunds. The first round will be sent automatically, but you'll be able to submit a claim for the second round.

"As the result of the FTC’s settlement, Amazon is required to pay $1.5 billion for refunds to customers affected by its unlawful Prime enrollment and cancellation practices," the commission said . "Amazon is also required to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and cease unlawful enrollment and cancellation practices for Prime subscriptions."
