Lego's smart brick system brings sound, light, motion to iconic toy: When is it available?
The LEGO Group says it will introduce a new “SMART Play" system in 2026 designed to make brick-built creations respond to how children move, hold and imagine with their toys.
Put a Star Wars tag near the brick and suddenly your X-Wing's engines purr. These include classics like Luke's X-Wing, a TIE Fighter, and the Throne Room Duel — all with interactive engine sounds, lightsaber hums, ambient effects, and even theme music moments as you move pieces around.
I think Lego might be really onto something with its tech-equipped Smart Play Smart Brick sets, but is it the future of Lego sets?
