The first Cherry Blossom Festival in the Tidal Basin in our nation’s capital was held in 1935. This year, it will be held from March 20 to April 11. Email questions to [email protected] .

The event, now in its 46th year, attracts thousands of cherry blossom admirers from around New Jersey and beyond to Branch Brook Park, a linear oasis of pink and green in the state’s largest city.

Apart from cherry blossom and chinar, 1,400 trees of other species were also planted, including kachnar, weeping willow, semal, bottle brush, bougainvillea and kaner.
