One of the most famous Great Lakes shipwrecks is the Edmund Fitzgerald. She went down on Lake Superior during a storm Nov. 10th, 1975 -- 48 years ago today.

When it was first launched, the Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest ship to set sail on the Great Lakes, according to the Michigan Maritime Museum. Unfortunately, the ship and its crew sank in 1975.
