Once you complete a Genocide run in Undertale, Chara becomes bound to Frisk, and they destroy the world you’re currently in before going in search of other worlds to ruin.

Unfortunately, this horrible decision forced his wife, Toriel, to abandon him, and Frisk eventually has to face him at the very end of their adventure in one of Undertale's most emotional boss fights.
