Excitement for the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada and Mexico will ramp up a notch today, as the draw for the group stages takes place

While in Washington, the Prime Minister will also attend the World Cup celebration and tree lighting ceremony at the Embassy of Canada, co-hosted by FIFA, Canada Soccer, and the Ambassador of Canada to the United States, Kirsten Hillman.

Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand is conducting the draw at the Kennedy Center, and co-hosts are slotted in pot one.

The United States will face Paraguay in its opening match in Group D, and Mexico will play South Africa in the tournament’s first game.
