Tripadvisor has declared that Panama City Beach is the top destination in Florida for summer travel. Tripadvisor tracks which travel destinations are trending each year with its Summer Travel Index.

The Florida Panhandle consists of Pensacola, Panama City Beach, Destin, and Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. It's a popular spring break spot known for its calm Gulf waters and white-sand beaches.

New Smyrna Beach in Florida ranked most dangerous, mainly because of 32 reported shark attacks since 2010. Panama City Beach is listed as having had two. Gulf Shores is listed as having had three.

Panama City Beach is home to a whopping 27 miles of beaches sprawled along the Florida Panhandle coastline. Some of the best places to hit the sea are in local state parks: St. Andrews and Camp Helen.
