A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows about half of U.S. adults believe it is a good thing for adults to use weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy and other brands if they are struggling with obesity or have a health condition tied to weight.

T he newest weight-loss drugs, Wegovy and Zepbound, are incredibly popular. But doctors are still learning about all of the ways they affect the body—both helpful and harmful—beyond reducing weight. In report published in Nature Medicine,

Wegovy is a GLP-1 agonist containing semaglutide, the same active ingredient as Ozempic. While both medications share this ingredient, they are approved for different purposes. Ozempic is primarily used for managing type 2 diabetes, whereas Wegovy is specifically approved for weight loss.
