Nebraska volleyball named Dani Busboom Kelly the Huskers’ new head coach just minutes after the announcement of John Cook’s retirement.

Louisville volleyball coach Dani Busboom Kelly is leaving the Cardinals to take the head coaching job at her alma mater.

But Busboom Kelly is from Nebraska. She went to school at Nebraska. She won a national title as a libero at Nebraska. She was an assistant to her mentor, John Cook, for another national title at Nebraska. Her husband played football for Nebraska.

John Cook, who led Nebraska to four national championships, announced Wednesday he is retiring after 25 seasons at NU.
