Fierce wildfires fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds are sending residents fleeing from burning homes through flames, ferocious winds and towering clouds of smoke.

A number of videos have been shared on social media showing the Palisades fire, the most destructive in Los Angeles' history, making its way toward the populated San Fernando Valley with mandatory evacuation orders in place.

Flames from the Palisades Fire sweeping through Los Angeles have reached the well known Palisades Charter High School. As of Wednesday afternoon, it is unclear what the assessed damage is, and Newsweek has reached out to the Palisades Charter High School for comment via email.

Not all schools in the area survived the fire, however, as Palisades Charter High School’s campus was destroyed. Approximately 3,000 students from 110 zip codes are enrolled at the school.

Palisades Charter High School (PCHS) in Los Angeles is appealing to the community to help find a new campus after its previous one was severely damaged by the ongoing wildfires in California.

Those schools include Hamilton Elementary School, Willard Elementary School, San Rafael Elementary School, Blair Middle School, Blair High ... California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Although Palisades Charter High largely survived the fire it is nowhere near ready to re-open. * The school is looking for a temporary location and is prepping to resume classes online.

Parents are concerned that the Canyon Charter Elementary School campus wasn't cleaned properly after the area was coated in ash from the Palisades Fire in early January.
