Hamas confirms the death of Mohammed Deif, head of its military wing, 6 months after Israel announced he was killed
After many months of keeping silent on the matter, Hamas announced the death of seven of the organization’s senior leaders, including longtime military commander Mohammed Diab Ibrahim al Masri, commonly known as Muhammad Deif.
Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida confirmed on Thursday the death of Mohammed Deif, the former head of Hamas’ military wing, six months after the Israel Defense Forces said it had killed him in a raid on the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone in the southern Gaza Strip.

Deif, had been among Hamas' most prominent figures, and was sought by Israel for years and attempted to kill him on many occasions.

Hamas confirmed the death of Mohammed Deif, head of its military wing, six months after Israel announced he was killed. It was the first statement Hamas has released on Deif’s condition since the Israeli military announced last August that he was killed in an airstrike in southern Gaza the month before.
