Elevance Health ended the third quarter with 47.2 million members, including BlueCard members, while UnitedHealthcare covered 45.9 million people in the U.S. Elevance has 6.5 million BlueCard members.

The BlueCard Program is under threat from separate legal action. The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association settled a federal antitrust suit for $2.67 billion in 2020.
