GRAND RAPIDS, MI – One person died in a house fire Sunday morning on the city’s Southeast Side. Grand Rapids firefighters responded to a 6:30 a.m. report of a house fire Sunday, Jan. 19, in the 800 block of Griggs Street SE. Upon arrival, crews found a home actively burning.

At 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 800 block of Griggs Street SE, near Eastern Avenue SE. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found an active fire burning at the house.

Grand Rapids police officers were called around noon, Jan. 18 to the 700 block of Sinclair Avenue for a report of a shooting with a 3-year-old victim, police said in a release. The child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
