Update: Containment progress – Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County at 17%
Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,713 acres after being active for a week. A crew of 5,200 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 17% of the fire by Tuesday morning. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

The Palisades Fire is one of two major blazes in Los Angeles County. The other, the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, has grown to 1,000 acres, according to the latest Cal Fire update. Together, the fires have left several people with burn wounds, destroyed homes and threatened infrastructure.
