Los Angeles authorities have vowed to prosecute illegal drone flights after a civilian drone collided with a Canadian “Super Scooper” aircraft fighting the Palisades Fire Thursday, forcing it to be grounded.

The CL-415 aircraft being used in California can drop large amounts of water on fires and fills its tank by skimming along a body of water without having to land.

An aircraft with the ability to carry more than a thousand of gallons of water was left severely damaged after a drone struck its wing on Thursday.
