A suspected case of avian influenza, or bird flu, has been detected on a poultry farm in Co Monaghan. It is understood samples have been taken from the site and have been sent to a laboratory for confirmation. If confirmed, it would be the first case of bird flu on a commercial farm in the country this year.

About 64,000 birds are being culled in County Tyrone after suspected avian flu was reported at a commercial poultry premises. The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (Daera) was notified about the suspected case at a business in Dungannon on Friday.
