Honda's new 2014 Grom is pretty much the definition of a scrappy little motorbike: It's a small, slow, 125cc four-speed machine weighing about 225 lbs wet. But don't let that fool you.

The Grom was an instant sales darling, and Honda has moved 750,000 of them worldwide since its debut. Part of the Grom's popularity is because the bodywork can be removed easily for customization.

Honda. A standard Grom lists for about $3,500, so I would guess even the race-spec version is going to be one of the least expensive ways to run motorsport in a brand-new vehicle.

The Grom looks and sits like a pit bike, or a retro minibike -- like the Honda CT-90 or MiniTrail of the 1960s and ‘70s, which were enormously successful for Honda.
