The snake eventually slithered back into the ocean and vanished. Eastern hog-nosed snakes, also referred to as eastern hognose snakes, are mildly venomous but considered mostly harmless to humans.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources staff were not on-site, but did tell the Scripps News Group in Baltimore that, based on the photos, it appears to be an eastern hog-nosed snake.
