Dallas officials don't want to hold a funeral for the downtown Neiman Marcus store just yet. In front of the Neiman’s downtown store Tuesday morning, city leaders convened to urge property owners to come to the table and find a way to keep a "piece of the city’s soul" open.

Some city leaders and real estate professionals say they will work together to find a way to keep Neiman Marcus open in downtown Dallas, days after the store said it was being forced out.

City leaders aren’t about to let downtown Neiman Marcus go quietly. A letter will call for Saks Global and property owners to meet next week and hammer out a solution that keeps the iconic, multi-story building open for business.

"At first it felt like we were starting to plan a funeral without verifying the patient didn't have a glimmer of life left."

Leaders from the City of Dallas met on Tuesday to discuss saving the iconic Downtown Neiman Marcus location. After serving as the brand's headquarters since 1907, doors are set to close on March 31.
