Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith capped off another sensational night with a championship-clinching, 56-yard reception on third down in the final minutes of 2025 College Football National Championship.

Jeremiah Smith's trajectory as one of college football's biggest stars just keeps rising. In Monday's College Football Playoff national championship matchup against Notre Dame, Ohio State's star freshman virtually sealed a win with a massive play.

With everything on the line, in the final minute of the college football season, the Ohio State rookie came up big.

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith moved to second on the program's single-season receiving touchdown list after the star freshman hauled in a score in the College Football Playoff National Championship against Notre Dame. The touchdown was the 15th of the season for Smith as he continues to dazzle during his first season of college football.

Long before Jeremiah Smith became a record-setting receiver at Ohio State, the freshman sensation had already established himself as one of the best receivers ever to come out of South Florida during his epic career at Chaminade-Madonna.

The Buckeyes were led by an explosive offense, led by quarterback Will Howard and one of the best freshman wide receivers in college football history Jeremiah Smith. Following the game, ESPN posted a strong declaration about the Ohio State star. "Jeremiah Smith," posted ESPN. "He hasn't arrived, he's been here."

This play looked very similar to one the Crimson Tide used against the Buckeyes in the national title game in 2021.
