Ayo Edebiri has obtained Emmy recognition through her role in "The Bear" so she will write while potentially playing a part in the making of a live-action "Barney" movie adaptation. Mattel Films works together with A24 and 59% Productions led by Daniel Kaluuya to develop this film project.

Momentum is gaining on A24’s live-action Barney movie from Mattel Films and Daniel Kaluuya’s 59% Productions, as the companies have set Emmy and Golden Globe winner Ayo Edebiri to write the screenplay and also have her in talks to star.

The feature film was first announced back in October 2019 Ayo Edebiri is seeing purple! The Bear actress, 29, is in talks to join the cast of Daniel Kaluuya's upcoming live-action Barney movie and has also been tapped to write the script.
