Household consumption up by almost 1 percent in November
Jan 8, 2025 · Higher spending on goods and services. Households spent 2.3 per cent more on durable goods (adjusted for price changes) than they did in November 2023. They bought more electrical appliances and cars, in particular. Consumers also spent 1.5 perce nt more on other goods, such as energy and personal care products. However, spending on food, beverages and tobacco was down by 0.9 per cent.

Energy was 4.0 perc ent cheaper in January than it was one year earlier. In December 2024, energy prices were still 0.5 perc ent higher than in the same month of the previous year.
