The bayonet is a time honored weapon in the Marine Corps. While Marines must be accurate from 500 yards with a rifle, the bayonet is a Marine's multi-purpose fighting knife and the weapon of choice in close combat situations. Every Marine receives bayonet training in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) and on the Bayonet Assault Course in Recruit Training.
