Early this week, a number of our personnel deployed with Task Force 52 to support firefighting efforts on the Flat Fire, burning northeast of Sisters in Jefferson and Deschutes Counties. 📍As of this morning’s update (August 26), the fire is estimated at 21,971 acres with 7% containment. Crews are making progress securing fire lines, mopping up around homes, and preparing for warmer, drier, and windier conditions later this week. Engine 14 and Squad 14 had a blast last week with this group! The kids (and their parents) got to learn about what we do with hands-on activities, including: 🚒 Engine show and tell 💦 Spraying water from a fire hose 🔎 Using TIC’s (thermal imaging cameras) to search for victims ⚕️EMS skills (airway management, intubations, and CPR) 👨‍🚒Tour of Station 14 🔥 And a ride in UTV14 We really appreciate this group coming by to explore firefighting.
