Looking back at our history: Today Typhoon guards UK airspace with RAF Coningsby providing QRA (South). In the early 1960's Vulcan bombers, based here, manned a very different 'Q'..... providing part of the nuclear deterrent. IX (B) Squadron recently reformed at RAF Lossiemouth and 12 (B) Squadron standing-up here at RAF Coningsby during 2019 were two of three squadrons based here.
