Donald Pleasence delivered fantastic performances as Dr. Loomis in the Halloween film franchise. But early on, he took issue with the way the character had been written, and he was candid about it too. In the end, the over-the-top nature of Loomis was one of the best things about the movies. So in hindsight, it's good that Pleasence rolled with the punches and made it work. Happy anniversary to the 1978 classic, which was released on this day (Oct. 25). #halloween #michaelmyers #drloomis #filmto

Donald Pleasence played Dr. Sam Loomis in Halloween (1978) and four sequels. Speaking on set in Pasadena, he says there were parts of John Carpenter's script he could not accept, that he brings himself round to it because it is Carpenter's film, and that he finds the script a little overwritten and melodramatic. Halloween (1978) was directed by John Carpenter and co-written with Debra Hill. Pleasence, who died in 1995, was filmed for a British television feature shot on the production in 1978. F
