The Pikes Peak Marathon & Ascent has 63-year history to its name, that in itself is worth associating with as a trail runner. The elements of this race are real and unlike some marathons, this race forces runners to feel the full rath of nature due to its exposure and altitude. Dakota Jones ran the descent of Pikes Peak Marathon in a new record time of 1:13... this bettered Matt Carpenter’s 1:15 downhill course record from 1993. This is a small amount of his downhill sprint! Along with winning Pikes Peak Marathon Dakota cycled 250 miles from home in Durango to Colorado Spring for the event and is now currently cycling home again.
