Had the awesome opportunity to fly the Martin "Hawaii" Mars to AirVenture in 2016. In preparation for the flight, I spent two weeks at Sproat Lake in Vancouver Island with the great Coulson Flying Tankers team, getting familiar with the giant flying boat. On Sunday, August 11, the Hawaii Martin Mars; the historic water bomber, will embark on it’s final flight proudly piloted by a dedicated flight crew including two Harbour Air pilots: Rick Matthews and alumni pilot Peter Killin. The iconic water bomber’s final flight will depart August 11th from Sproat Lake in Port Alberni and fly to the Saanich Inlet, landing in Patricia Bay beside @yyjairport. The historic aircraft will be preserved by the British Columbia Aviation Museum as part of a new B.C.
